Do you have a nagging curiosity about speciality coffee, but you aren’t sure where to begin? Are you considering taking the first steps to becoming a home barista? Or are you just looking to have some fun and drink a lot of great coffee? If the answer is yes, then this introductory workshop is for you!
We might all drink copious amounts of coffee, but did you know that the vast majority of coffee we consume is of poor quality, roasted far too dark, or sourced so unethically that the farmer is denied any chance of tasting the fruits of his labour? This is why you should choose speciality coffee beans – where you’ll finally start to experience real taste in your coffee.
In this workshop, you will learn what distinguishes speciality coffee from poor-quality, commercial coffee. Over the course of 2 hours, you will discover where different tastes in coffee come from by learning about different varieties, processing methods and fermentation, and of course, get an idea about how coffee is roasted. You’ll then experience a proper coffee tasting, where you’ll be able to taste a range of different coffees and start to discover your own personal taste preferences in coffee. Not that tasting is enough, of course, which is why we’ll give you the opportunity to work with a real espresso machine to make delicious espressos, learn how to steam milk, and pour some pretty-looking milk coffees. In the cosy and low-pressure environment that is our coffee bar in the centre of The Hague, you’re set to enjoy a wonderful evening together with a small group of fellow coffee lovers.
When: Thursday 11 October at 19:00.
Where: Ief&Ido roasting shop/bar, Prinsestraat 114, 2513 CH Den Haag.
This workshop is an ideal way to begin discovering the world of speciality coffee in a relaxed manner – for yourself, with a friend or partner, or a small group. Interested? Book your spot before the workshop is full, or if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to get in touch via email or phone.
