Francisco Morales and his wife have operated La Esperanza farm for over 40 years. Morales’ eagerness to continuously improve his understanding of coffee-growing has led to him winning several prizes in Hueuetenango Highland competitions. Los Naranjales is one of the family’s older plots of land, and it has continued to produce excellent coffee. The orange trees on the property enrich the soil and provide shade for the coffee plants below.
This is a friendly, full-bodied coffee, roasted so that it really is an all-rounder’s friend and comes out great as either espresso or a more traditional-tasting filter coffee. Striking a balance between chocolatey-nutty and mildly fruity flavours, it’s not surprising that this is one of our guests’ all-time favourites here at Ief&Ido.
